Day 1: Arrival in Argentina

La Continental: Our first taste of Buenos Aires

After a long, overnight flight from Texas, our Argentinian guide, and soon to be good friend, Cynthia, picked us up from the airport. Much to our surprise, she had with her a dozen alfajores as a welcome sweet-treat typical to Argentina. Once we arrived at the hostel, hungry and eager to explore, we quickly walked to La Continental for the chance to enjoy one of Buenos Aires' famous empanadas and to get a look at home for the few days.

Once we finished our delicious first meal in Buenos Aires, we returned to the hostel to meet the sweet owner, Mariano and to become introduced with Voluntario Global, the non-profit organization coordinating our service project. After the orientation, we enjoyed a wonderful welcome dinner complete with sausage, steak, bread, and a sweet dessert! Exhausted from our long day of traveling, we soon each went to sleep, excited to embark on our week long journey.
